Privacy policy
BiminiIslands.com is operated by Digified Media. This page says what the site collects when you visit or send us a message, what we do with it and how to have it removed. The short version: every page here can be read without telling us who you are.
When you visit
Server logs. The server that sends you a page writes down the request: your IP address, the time, the page you asked for, the page that sent you here and the browser you're using. We read these logs to keep the site running and to spot abuse, such as a script pulling thousands of pages in a row. They're kept for about two weeks, though a backup of the server can hold a copy for longer.
Visit statistics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages get read and how people arrive. It sets cookies in your browser and records the pages you view, the kind of device and browser you're using, your approximate location and the site that sent you here. Google processes those records on its own servers, and Google's page on partner sites explains what it does with data from a site like this one. What reaches us is totals and trends: how many people read a page, how many of them were on a phone, which site or search engine sent them. Never a name or an email address. To stay out of those statistics, block cookies for this site in your browser or install Google's opt-out add-on. Every page works the same either way.
Cookies of our own. The site sets none for visitors.
Advertising
Advertising pays for the site. Pages may carry ads served by Google. Google and its advertising partners use cookies to show you ads based on your visits to this site and to others, and Google's advertising page explains how that works and how to opt out of it.
Some links on the site are affiliate links, which means we may be paid if you book or buy after following one. Each page that carries one says so. Following an affiliate link tells the merchant which site sent you, and nothing else about you.
When you send us a message
The contact form collects three things: your name, your email address and the message itself. The message is stored in the site's database and a copy is sent to us by email. We use it to answer you and to correct the site. There is no mailing list.
We keep a message for as long as it takes to answer it and to keep a record of what was corrected. Ask us to delete your message and we will.
Who else sees it
We don't sell personal information. The companies that provide the site's hosting, email delivery, visit statistics and advertising handle it, and only to provide those services. We'd release information if the law required it.
Where it is stored
The site is hosted in the United States. Google processes statistics and advertising data on servers in several countries. Digified Media is a Canadian company. Whether you're reading from Florida, Bimini or somewhere else, information held outside your own country is subject to the laws of the country where it is held.
Links to other sites
Our pages link to the ferry operator, the airlines, Resorts World Bimini, NOAA and the National Weather Service, the Government of The Bahamas and other sites we don't run. Each has its own privacy policy.
Seeing, correcting or removing your information
Ask through the contact page. We'll tell you what we hold about you and correct it or delete it. If our answer doesn't satisfy you, you can take it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

This page changes when the way the site handles information changes. The date under this text shows when it last did.
